Gathering the \u201csilent cry\u201d of not a few parents, and trusting solely in the Lord of Life, at the end of 1996 we opened a centre for rehabilitation (for people with motor and neurological impairments), integration and personal development, thanks to the sensitivity of the town council of Sambuca di Sicilia and especially of the Mayor, who made premises available to us..<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Today the Centre operates under an agreement with the ASL health authority of Agrigento, for a unit of 38 outpatient treatments a day, thus also providing work for <u>16 people<\/u> (specialists and support staff), and therefore for 16 families (who, let it be clear, belong neither to the Association nor to the Missionaries of the Family).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Each month the Centre also sets aside a short time for formation and spirituality meetings for those who are interested and above all for the families who use the Centre's services.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><u>The <em>Centre<\/em> makes use of the services<\/u>:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<li>of medical specialists (<strong>neurologist, orthopaedist, physiatrist<\/strong>);<\/li>\n<li>of the <strong>psychologist<\/strong> and of the<strong>social worker<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>of practitioners specialised in the field of <strong>speech therapy<\/strong>, of <strong>psychomotor therapy<\/strong> and of <strong>neuromotor rehabilitation<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>of a psychotherapist who (through periodic meetings) helps the staff to grow in working as a team and to improve the quality of their service.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">* The contribution of many volunteers is particularly valuable, above all for carrying out the <strong>supplementary activities<\/strong> of the Centre (music, painting, computing, etc.); they generously give their time and their skills.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<li>\u00a0<em><u>The Centre is open and promotes collaboration<\/u><\/em>: In collaboration with the <u>Faculty of \u201cEducational Sciences<\/u>\u201d of the University of Palermo, the Centre hosts trainee students.<\/li>\n<li>The Centre has established working relationships with a number of <u>Schools<\/u> in the area, to combine efforts on behalf of pupils with disabilities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Conditions treated:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em><u>Neuromotor conditions<\/u><\/em>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Cerebral palsy, developmental anomalies of the nervous system, extrapyramidal disorders, cerebellar disorders, neuromuscular diseases, sequelae of head and spinal cord injuries.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em><u>Mild and moderate sensory impairments<\/u><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em><u>Mixed conditions<\/u><\/em>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Cerebral palsy, progressive encephalopathies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em><u>Language disorders<\/u><\/em>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Language delay, dysarthria, aphasia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em><u>Mild, moderate and severe intellectual disability<\/u><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em><u>Psychological disorders in childhood and adolescence<\/u><\/em>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">behavioural disorders, autism, psychomotor instability.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">\u201c<strong>Centro Solidali con Te<\/strong>\u201d Via Giovanni XXIII, 2 \u2013 92017 Sambuca di Sicilia \u2013 (AG)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">tel. and fax 0925\/943311 <a href=\"mailto:solidaliconte@oasicana.it\">solidaliconte@oasicana.it<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[highlight]visita il sito del Centro[\/highlight] L\u2019attenzione alla coppia e alla famiglia ci ha fatto \u201caprire gli occhi\u201d sulla famiglia che soffre per un membro portatore di handicap.
